The Fresh 48 Photography Experience with Bia Schaefer Photography is all about capturing the raw, intimate moments in the first 48 hours of your newborn’s life — a time when everything feels new, tender, and full of emotion.
During a hospital Fresh 48 session, I’ll visit you and your baby at the hospital, typically within the first 48 hours after birth, to photograph those first precious moments. From the tiny details of your baby’s hands and feet to the quiet bonding moments between you and your newborn, this session captures the magic of your baby’s very first hours in the world.
The beauty of a Fresh 48 session is that it’s not posed — it’s natural, real, and full of the unspoken emotions that define the beginning of your new life as a family. I focus on the intimate moments, whether it's your baby’s first skin-to-skin contact with mom, a proud glance from dad, or the first time siblings meet their new brother or sister.
I’ll be there to document these fleeting moments in a non-intrusive, relaxed way, allowing you to savor the experience while I capture stunning, timeless images that will forever remind you of your baby’s first days.

Once we've gone over session and pricing information, and I've answered any questions you might have, we'll use the due date first and confirm/ adjust the session date, after baby is born.
I'll send you a contract and an invoice for the session fee (Deposit). Just sign and pay online, and you're officially booked!
*It is never too early to book your fresh 48 session and most families book their session before their third trimester.
3. ask me Anything
Once your baby arrives you will reach out as soon as possible so we can have the most flexibility in scheduling.
*The most important thing is to let me know when you are on your way to the hospital and once the baby arrives so we can plan accordingly.
*Ideal timing is when baby is 24-48 hours old.
*Fresh 48 sessions are scheduled in the morning, so we can utilize natural light.
4. Portrait Day
The newborn session is really dictated by your baby and can take anywhere from 60 to 90 mins.
My goal is to create a relaxed, enjoyable experience that results in stunning portraits you’ll cherish forever.
5. your photographs
After the session, I’ll carefully curate and professionally edit your images to ensure they reflect the beauty and emotion of this special time. Within 1 week, you’ll receive your final gallery, where you’ll be able to download your high res images
*I also offer a variety of print packages and high-quality products, including albums, prints, and canvases, so you can preserve and display your beautiful portraits for years to come.
• The {Fresh} 48 Session takes place within the first 48 hours of birth. I like to be there as quickly after the birth as possible, so the sooner the better.
• It can take place at the hospital, birth center or at home and will last approximately 60 minutes.
• Lifestyle photography – unposed, natural or available light. A mix of black and white and soft color images.
Digital download of a minimum of 30, high resolution, hand edited digital images in an online gallery for instant download and sharing, as well as the option to order high-quality prints directly from your gallery!

Bia is an INCREDIBLE photographer. She shot our maternity session, a Fresh 48 session in the hospital after our daughter’s birth, and newborn photos ten days after her birth.
She is so kind, very responsive and communicative, professional, and has a very quick turnaround. Her photos are stunning - you can tell that she really pours her heart into her craft! Not only does she give great direction during her shoots (directing poses, props, etc.), she also does a beautiful job editing her photos. We have been so impressed with everything she’s taken, and we certainly plan on working with her again in the future!
